Te Kahui Kura Maori

ROXANNE WARU

Kaiwhakahaere (General Manager), Ngā Pou Mana Tangata Whenua Allied Health.

Occupational Therapist, Gains at Geneva.

E ngā mana, e ngā reo, tēnā rā koutou katoa.

Ko Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa, Rongomaiwāhine, Te Aitanga-A-Hauiti, Ngāti Porou rāua ko Te Whānau-A-Apanui e mihi ana ki a koutou katoa!

I have a background in Occupational Therapy, and have worked in acute, rehabilitation, community and private health settings. I am passionate about reducing barriers for those with disabilities to access their environments, and I am just as equally passionate about reducing inequities for Māori to have better access to quality, culturally appropriate healthcare.

I have spent some time working in Whānau Ora as a project manager, and my most recent role is Kaiwhakahaere (general manager) for Ngā Pou Mana Tangata Whenua Allied Health.

My role includes advocating for Māori to have a greater voice in decision making when it comes to health and wellbeing, and for Indigenous ways of doing and being to be valued, respected and implemented into the health sector.

I am proud to be a member of Te Kahui Kura Māori and look forward to being part of this transformative journey with Recreation Aotearoa.

Mauri Ora!
